Research and society

Scientific research in meteorology serves to better understand how our atmosphere works and to produce numerical models that help to live and attend more safely the most inaccessible areas of the Alpine territory

Data and observations

Collect high-quality data of quantities that are usually poorly studied

Analisys and research

Analyze unique data and develop new approaches and theories to fully understand the Mountain Boundary Layer (MBL).

Models and forecasts

Develop regional scale models (WRF), implementing new datasets and verifying them with data collected in field campaigns

These are the challenges of the MetAlp project: to understand more deeply the atmosphere
in the mountain environment and to implement the discoveries made with experimental campaigns
in the numerical models of weather forecasting.
